Lazy Sunday

Wake up in the late afternoon. Oops wrong thing.

Ché had it right yesterday – eat and sleep. I feel a lot better this morning. Weekends are really turning out to be a tough nut to crack. Sitting at a desk, it’s so much easier to manage my time and food intake. At home, waking up late, doing a million things makes it tough for me to watch the clock, as it were.

In any event, I’m reading a new book The Omnivore’s Dilemma, It’s really awesome.

I read the review you linked to on Amazon… Didn’t look horribly interesting. Is there some practical stuff you’ll get out of it, or is it more curiousity?

So what is the greatest aspect of the book? I have seen it before but never thought of picking it up.

The book shows the entire food chain from oil used in fertilizers all the way to the McDonald’s drive-through.

He takes 4 meals, and traces them back to the earth from whence they came:
    McDonalds meal in his car
Whole Foods “organic” meal (he calls it Industrial-Organic)
Grass-finished meal made from entirelly local ingredients (the most interesting section)
A meal he goes out and kills/forages himself.

    Good stuff.
