Still going
I skated for 30 minutes this morning, did 30 pushups and am heading to TaeKwonDo tonight.
I’m not giving up on the goal of getting in shape. I’m still working through a few things, but I can feel myself getting excited about this project again.
Today is wednesday – the start of a new “week” in this program. This post doesn’t have weight and waist, but I might make another post tonight.
I’m still not “there” mentally with the new way of things around here – that’s something that I need to get to.
I am also totally blown away by the comments lately. All kinds of people telling me not to give up – it’s really inspiring!
Let’s give Kastner a good ol’ Howard Dean cheer for this post!!!

Hi there! I’ve been away for a while, and it looks like this thing is still going :) Good for you!
I’ve been doing some thinking about my own getting in shape, and I’ve realised something I’d like to share with you.
I have often felt the desire to get in shape, and have gone to some trouble to make it happen, but once I’ve achieved it, I invariably let it slip. All the effort put in evaporates in a matter of months, and I’m back at square one.
I think that this is due to the “project” perspective. The fact that it’s too goal-oriented (i.e., getting a six-pack), so that once the goal is achieved, the incentive wanes. I have started to forget about “getting in shape”, and started just “being in shape”. Think of it not as a project, but as a lifestyle.
That’s all my preaching for the day.
Best,
Mike
Excellent post, Mike. One concept I talked to our mutual friend John http://shrinkingdude.com about was regarding the idea of DIRECTIONALIZING your mind in a positive direction that will automatically and continually let you achieve goals. Goals are good to fixate on to draw you forward, but if you have a direction, it implies continious improvement that doesn’t stop when you pass by a goal post.
Start winning this money back, but remember the money is a simple dividend that pales to the returns you will gross on your exercising investment.
Be in it to WIN it!!!
In order to keep this contest from going stale, the Benevolent 5 have conferred and are passing the following rule:
“If there are no posts to Six Pack By Summer for any four day period, and without prior written consent by the Benevolent 5, this contest will be terminated immediately and automatically. The moneys sequestered for the purposes of this contest will be returned to each member of the Benevolent 5 in the same proportions in which they were divided.”
Quitters never win. Keep going!!!
