Erik’s ’08 Comeback Special

Look who gives a crap.

This blog has laid dormant for a long time…

However, I’ve decided to revive it, and get my life back on track. The goal this time is not to get a six-pack, but to get – AND STAY – healthy and fit. Here are a few of the things I need to do:

  • Find Instant Results

    Instead of freaking out about how long it takes to notice changes, I need to focus on the day-to-day triumphs and accomplishments. Things like running further than yesterday, eating better than last week, enjoying my daily walks…

  • Enjoy the Journey

    Last time I was so focused on my goal that I didn’t stop to enjoy anything along the way. That is totally unsustainable, and if it’s not obvious, one of my major goals is to get into habits I can use for the rest of my life (so a chicken and apple sodium depletion is out – sorry guys ;))

  • CARE

    Not caring is worse than anything. I haven’t cared for a long time and that needs to change for ME to change

  • Get over myself

    I always feel like everything has to be perfect before I can make the first move. I also feel like I always know what’s best for me. Instead of doing that, I need to be able to listen to other people, use systems that work, take advice.

Why Now?

There are a few things that have tipped the scales and gotten me to finally get off my butt, here’s some:

  • John nagging me all the time :)
  • Chad getting in shape (for the first time, and KILLING IT!)
  • Harvest For Hope
  • And the #1 reason: Danika Checking out the fall fashions

How can I help you?

I will be asking for your help, but I wanted to first add what I can hopefully do for you…

  • Coding / Design / Consulting

    I’m always available for regular consulting, but for my friends on here, I will do everything in my power to do whatever I can for you. Most of you know I’d do this for you anyway, but hopefully I can help you help me!

  • Advice on Diet / Trainging

    Those who can’t do, teach

    I don’t do the things I know I should (but this blog will help), but I know LOTS about all this stuff. If you’re looking to make a change with me now or whenever, let’s talk.

  • A virtual workout buddy

    Wanna have a contest? Let’s do this. Need someone to get up each day and chat with you while you ride your bike? Let’s chat.

Here’s where I ask for your help… again

There is no doubt in my mind that my successes of 2006 were in large part due to the support, encouragement and prodding from the commenters on this blog. Here is where I ask you all for something none of you owe… More! If any of you would be willing to do any of the following, I’d be greatful beyond belief.

  • Comment on my posts… On here, twitter, email, im, in person, ANYWHERE

    The comments last time were a *huge* help, and knowing that if I slacked off, people would say something was something that kept me going when the going was tough.

  • Call me out.

    When I cheat, call me out.
    When I miss a day, call me out.
    When I whine, call me out.
    When I stop caring… call me out, drive to my house, kick my butt and make fun of me.

  • Ask me if today was better than yesterday

    Whenever you remember, ask me on twitter or IM if TODAY was better than YESTERDAY. Even if it’s not, I need to pay attention (is YOUR today better than yesterday? I hope so, and if not – make sure tomorrow is.)

My Goals

I have a few goals and guidelines I’d like to stick to. These are not set in stone yet, so I’m willing to entertain changes and addtions.

  • Avoid Dietary Relativism

    I am a total snob when I’m eating well, and it annoys me. I’ll have more to write about this later

  • Build my Cardio up

    I don’t have a set goal yet, but it will be something like run 3 miles

  • Teach one day a week at my sister’s Taekwondo school within 6 months

    I’m really excited that Alicia has asked me to teach one day a week. Once I’m able to get through a class without clutching my sides, I will be down there kicking butt!

  • Contribute regularly to the health and fitness of others

    I’m hoping this blog will help with that in general, but more specifically I’d like to help people 1 on 1 as much as I can.

  • Give this blog love often

    Posts, design, comments, etc. I want to make sure that this blog and this endevour is at the front of my mind every day. Call me out if I start slipping.
